Auxilium College of Arts and Science for Women, Regunathapuram, is a minority Catholic higher educational institution managed by the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco, Province of Our Lady of Snow, Tiruchirappalli. Dedicated to the empowerment and welfare of women, the college has been serving the cause of women’s education for decades. Established in 2007 with just three students, it has since grown to over 1,000 learners. Affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, the college earned an ‘A’ Grade in its first NAAC accreditation cycle. Demonstrating its commitment to innovation and lifelong learning, it has established an Institution Innovation Council and an NPTEL Local Chapter. With a special focus on first-generation women from rural areas, the college strives to provide holistic education that equips students to meet global challenges. Guided by its vision and mission, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) fosters a culture of quality through initiatives aimed at continuous improvement, sustenance, and enhancement.
The Department of Physics holds the top position on the chronological list of programs started. Established in 2008, when the College itself was revived, the Department initially offered only the Pre-University course. The Undergraduate Programme (B.Sc.) was introduced in 2010. Since its inception, the Department has had all the essential infrastructural facilities, including fully equipped laboratories with necessary amenities and instruments. Responding to ever-growing demands, the Department became a full-fledged P.G. Department in 2016. The Department now features a modern laboratory with special-purpose mini-labs, a hardware lab, and an operating systems and networking lab, all serving the teaching faculty and students. Additionally, the Department supports students from other related disciplines in undertaking project work, particularly in areas such as electronics, non-conventional energy sources like solar and wind energy, nanotechnology, and thin film techniques.
The Department of Mathematics was established in 2007 with the launch of its undergraduate program and expanded in 2013 to include a postgraduate program. It is supported by eight dedicated faculty members with rich research and teaching experience. The department’s primary goal is to inspire, educate, and train students across all levels. To enhance learning, the department regularly organizes seminars, workshops, and competitions. Over the past 15 years, it has steadily fostered student participation in paper presentations and intercollegiate competitions, enabling them to secure top ranks in the university. With its team of well-qualified faculty, the department aspires to evolve into a recognized research department in the near future.
The Department of Computer Science and Applications has been an integral part of the college since 2008, introducing its postgraduate program in 2018. Looking ahead, the department envisions advancing research in programming and related fields. Its mission is to nurture students into professionals of excellence, equipping them with technological expertise grounded in social and spiritual values. To enhance competence and employability, the department continually updates its curriculum while ensuring that career-focused learning is balanced with academic rigor and the pursuit of knowledge. Renowned for its academic excellence, the department has consistently produced university rank holders and facilitated successful placements in reputed companies.
